Nancy O'Dell's initial position in the broadcasting industry was as a reporter/anchor at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she was a the morning news anchor as well as a crime reporter at WCBD-TV. The articles written by O'Dell in Charleston, about how the Charleston police dealt with DUI cases with care, resulted in an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division. This investigation led to a more strict directive for state authorities. It was reported that the Associated Press honored Ms. O'Dell by awarding her the Best Report of the Years Award across all South Carolina Media. In the years following her stay living in Charleston, O'Dell worked as an anchor co-host for NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV and as an investigative reporter. After that, she was hired by Access Hollywood to work as an anchor on weekends and weekdays. In addition, she serves as an anchor on Dateline NBC and NBC News Today. She covered events such as The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. As well as co-hosting the Pre Show Arrivals to The Emmys & The Golden Globes. She co-hosted both The Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.
